Calprotection : Is 800 a high... - Crohn's and Colit...
Calprotection
Its so different. I had 2100 and still waiting to see a gastro. Feeling ok. (Waited since mars)All other tests was ok. Undiagnosed. From sweden
Yes, it's high. The ranges are 0-50 normal, 50-200 mildly raised and above that (into the thousands) is significant.
Gastro should definitely be doing something to help if your calprotectin is 800. For IBD people anything around 100 is acceptable and for those without IBD it should be under 50. There are people with numbers in thousands but if you are not being investigated with a high calprotectin then push for it.
mine were 480 last year so had a fit test and colonoscopy in November and have a phone call from Gastro at the end of this month, last year when my levels were high I had diarrhoea for months lost about 1 1/2 stone that was needed to be fare, after colonoscopy it seemed to clear up a lot but it keeps rearing it’s head up every couple of weeks, I have been IBS for over 30 years, had no help with that apart from being told I had it by gp, I can’t tollerate tap water as it affects me at both ends. Make sure you don’t leave yourself pester your GP if that’s what’s needed
as most others have said, yes that is clinically considered high. But then all our bodies are quite different. Some folk with that would be in a very serious state, others things go far higher.
My own ranges are silly - I've been over 5000 before.
But that is not at all to diminish 800. The key is are you feeling particularly unwell? The severity will be felt by you. But again - regardless of how you feel, 800 needs tackling in earnest, it shouldn't really be in triple digits at all.
