What does a level of 89.5 mean?

Is this high?

Hi, this result would indicate IBS. Usually a result of over 100 is indicative of inflammatory bowel disease. Calprotectin tests for inflammatory markers specific to the bowel. Under 50 is normal, 50 - 100 is recognised in IBS but is still a normal result.

Hope this helps but please dont hesitate to ask me anything if you want more advice x

Thanks for the reply.

So this is what they call borderline and why I have to have a repeat test done.

50 or below is taken as a negative. 0ver 50- 200 is a grey area: they might repeat the test again in a few weeks. Over 200 is a strong indicator for IBD. See: calprotectin.co.uk/about-ca...

(Latter part of the article describes test results in more detail)

Thanks,that’s really useful.

Was told over 100 was IBD.

So many different takes on it.

Will ask my consultant next month when I see him.

Thanks again👍🏻

Hi,no not as yet.

I’ve just had a second capsule endoscopy, the first one was inconclusive as it travelled through my bowel in 28 mins.

Still waiting for results from the second one.

Thanks.
