I take 25 mg methotrexate weekly for Crohn's. It was working well, but I have started to get a lot of joint pain now, so I am seeing a rheumatologist in May. I also take pentasa, as well as oxycodone, pregabalin and paracetamol. I'm aware that I have active inflammatory change in quite a few joints (wrists, shoulders, feet and in my spine and clavicle) as my breast surgeon recently ordered a nuclear medicine bone scan, because of concern about a possible recurrence of breast cancer. My bloods are relatively normal, but they always are, even though I had a lot of active inflammation when I had a resection last year. (At that time I had been on a tapering dose of prednisolone, as I had needed radiotherapy for the breast cancer and I tended to get symptoms as soon as I reduced the prednisolone to between 25 and 30 mg of steroids.)

I have not seen a gastroenterologist since last August, as mine has left and I've been lost in the system, despite efforts to get seen! I've just now had an appointment come through for June.

I'm classed as being in remission with Crohns so only taking 20mg methotrexate now trying not to take paracetamol to much as makes me constipated and I have strictures . I hope everything will work out for u .

Yes, I'm prone to constipation & strictures, but don't think I've developed any new ones since having surgery last year. Good luck to you too xxx

Hi Charlotte

I started methotrexate for my crohn's 12 weeks ago ( on top of Humira & prednisolone). I'm on 25mg injections each week.

When I first started the MXT would totally wipe me out for 48hrs....although may have also been because crohn's not great. I do sometimes feel wiped out by it/my crohn's but I have just come to accept this.

It's wise to get bloods checked as you can get side effects with blood counts.

Hope you feel better soon

Sarah
