Why am I so cold after I've cooled down from a run?

I find it really hard to stay warm for the rest of the day when I have been running. Does anyone else have this problem?

I think that can be caused by dehydration and a low blood sugar count.

Thanks, I will try having more to drink and a snack when I finish. I hadn't thought of that at all x

Hi mrslazy (not true to your name) what sort of clothing are you wearing? If its cotton that used to make me feel very chilled during my cool down walk which seemed to take for ever for me to get heated up again even after a long hot shower. Dehydration may be another reason for it, so a glass of water then a cup of fruit/herbal tea is good. Try to avoid caffeine for a good while after too.

I am just wearing running tops and a running jacket, but I I will try and drink more and have a snack when I get back and see if it helps. Thanks for the tip x. It had never occurred to me that I might be dehydrated as I can't honestly say that I feel sweaty in these temperatures, but I suppose my body is Woking hard. Thank you

Yes, this always happens to me. I don't associate it with being hungry or dehydrated, but I do still get tired after a run and I've put it down to this. I usually run first thing in the morning, after two cups of coffee and a banana or a small yoghurt, so for the rest of the day I eat and drink as normal. I still don't quite know why it happens but I don't worry about it as much any more!

It would make sense as I always feel better running on empty, I usually run about 5.30 pm after a lunch at 12.30. I am more comfortable this way. I am going to try a cold drink followed hot drink and a digestive as soon as I get back and see if it makes any difference. X

Perhaps it's just cause its so flipping cold! I run while dreaming of running in the sunshine!

Yes it is horrible and cold but seem to have acclimatised to these low temperatures for the run, but did break into a sweat today so things are on the up I hope.

I had a pint of very weak squash when I got back followed by a banana and constant hot drinks. I was nice and toasty after my shower and stayed that way, so I think what landesman and oldgirl have said might have helped. X
