Be safe when running outside on darker morning/evenings

I bought a HiViz pop over vest today from Lidl cost me all of £3.95 well worth every penny if it means I'm easily seen on the darker mornings/evenings which won't be far away now. I real bargain in my opinion.

That's a good idea although I tend not to be on the actual road. I can't believe how the evenings are starting to draw in!

I don't run on the roads either lucylocket but I do run on cycle paths and that can be dark in the early mornings so just thought I would help myself to be seen.

I'm a great believer in doing all I can to stay safe. ;)

Got a Hi-viz gilet in TK Maxx the other day for about tenner. Bit hit and miss what they have in stock.

I've been looking at where the street lights are round me. My normal run is on a path through woods. It's not lit but there's a main road 20m away and it's got big street lights which might shine through. Otherwise I may have to change for a route on streets which doesn't appeal.

In the winter time I have only roads, and country roads at that, available to me run on. Oldgirl's advice on wearing a high viz vest is sound - i wear one too and do feel very safe. I would also add to her advice, take one earphone out so that your hearing is also engaged with your environment. The upside of winter time running of course is that you can wear the most figure hugging of outfits like compression tights etc., brilliant for support and warmth.

I always run with just one ear bud in too as I like to hear the sounds around me especially what is coming up behind.
