What device do people use that tells them their speed and distance? And roughly how much does the device cost?

just downloading as I type, thanks again everyone :-) bit scared to find out how slow I am running now though!!

ah, but the important bit of that statement is that you are running! If Endomondo is not to your liking you can also try Runkeeper - it takes a few minutes to lock onto the satellite but you can set it so that it streams stats to you every five minutes or so. I like this it more than I do Endomondo

I'm using the mapmyrun app on my iphone which I find great. Haven't tried the others though so can't give a comparison.

I use Map my Run, afterwards. It's dead easy and free. While I'm actually running I use an ancient, but still functioning, heart rate/chronometer watch, just to give me elapsed time. It was threepence-three-farthing from Decathlon when I bought it but that was about 10 years ago. But they have a decent range.

Runtastic for the Blackberry - but it was quite demoralising to find out how slowly I was actually going!

I use a NIke+ sports band along with the attachment you put in your shoe to measure everything. I love it and would totally recommend it. It measures your pace, your distance and calories burned, it also works as a usual clock and also a counter clock so you can time how long you have been running. It cost £40 I think ( I got it as a gift) and you can upload your runs online. When you hit targets etc Nike gives you little online trophies and awards which I, quite sadly, like to get. My OH laughs at how I excited I can get over a virtual prize!!

I was using runkeeper but have had issues for the past few weeks with the app not syncing my runs to the web.....got fed up of entering them manually which is not as accurate....tried out endomondo today and really liked it but miss the audio of the runkeeper updating me every so often - any endomondo users out there that can tell me if i have missed an option on their to have audio updates as I cant seem to find it? Thanks
