Well done, I know it hurts, I'm at the same stage as you are, going to week 3 tomorrow. From what I can gather its just your body protesting to the exercise, but it will soon get better, however you need to know you have a decent set of running shoes that fit and support your feet. This can be checked at a decent running shop. Best of luck and keep up the good work

I would strongly suggest gait analysis to ensure you have suitable shoes.
Are you stretching properly after running ?
totally agree with this. gait analysis all the way! I had shin pain once I went outside (previous treadmill runner) & it turned out that I needed shoes for overpronation ~ thats where your foot turns over/in on itself when you land. new shoes did wonders for my shins & if you let knee pain continue you may have to take more rest days in-between or a couple of weeks off!
shoes dont have to be expensive. gait analysis is normally free & if you have a budget then tell them once they start showing you shoes. you can always go online & get them cheaper & the shop probably wont have lost anything as you are bound to go back to get different running accessories.
good luck & please dont run if the pain doesnt disappear or gets worse when you do run. X

I thought that but now I am at week 6, struggling but determined to keep going... I brought a better pair of running shoes and found that really helped the pain!

As long as it is just soreness and not an injury and you are taking rest days then it's fine. You're body will soon adjust to the new increased level of exercise. Keep going

Are you stretching off properly after the run? My knees hurt after each run for the first few weeks. It just that your body isn't used to the repeated impact of runnng.
