Completed challenge 1 of week 1 - wow. Feel great. Had a shower and ate a meal after the run but then about an hour later I was freezing cold...too tight to put the heating on! Off tomorrow for run 2, can't wait.

Well done for making a start. You sound really keen. But I strongly advise you to do what Laura tells you and have a rest day before you do your second run. I do know how you feel, though. Having never been much of a runner, I found myself actually wanting to go out on my rest days. I think it was the prospect of getting fitter in a manageable way - I wanted to speed things up a bit. And I did, as I did the first 7 weeks in 6, running every other day rather than just 3 times a week.

I think the cold/shivery thing passes after a while (ie you won't get it so much in later runs) but I know I had to wrap up really warm after my first few runs. I also found I couldn't really eat for a long time afterwards - so don't be alarmed if your stomach closes down a bit at first!

But yes - do make sure you get those rest days: that's when all the progress is REALLY made!

Shivering is often a sign that maybe you didn't cool down slowly enough after your run. Shivering is the body's way of trying to maintain body temp. Perhaps walk for a little longer at the end of each run to stop it happening
