Also, I had forgotten how Coe, Cram and Ovett ruled that middle distance before the Kenyans arrived! Fascinating programme (now on BBC iplayer)
'Faster Higher Stronger' BBC 2: anyone see it?... - Couch to 5K
'Faster Higher Stronger' BBC 2: anyone see it? What did you think about the different training strategies?
Yeah I saw it...fascinating.
Fartlek v distance....actually both work don't they? That kiwi runner used to run 22 miles "quite hard" every day, but I did notice started with one hour a day until he felt strong and then gradually increased it.
The programme about Kenya producing champions was brilliant too, couple of nights ago.
They had an irish coach who originally knew nothing about running but taught himself by observing runners and their form. Great stuff.....but I don't think they have any competetition from me !!!!!!
I will have to catch up on this and the other one mentioned too. I caught the one about the 100m (my original love) but have been working evening the rest of the week!
I really enjoyed watching the Kenyan programme, the Irish trainer was so caring and what was so amazing was he never traveled with his runners he just sat at home and watched them. A true lover of the sport and would take none of the credit by being in the limelight.
Thought this might be of interest noticed a similar discussion on tantrumbeans question, couchto5k.healthunlocked.co...
