Well done on getting to week four, sorry to hear its turned out to be tough.

Most of us will have had Iand will still have) good and not so good runs.

Just some general advice, and sorry some of this might seem obvious, but things like

going too fast, not being sufficiently hydrated, not having the right footwear, being under the weather (fighting off a virus or something) or a bit sleep deprived, not having eaten at the right time, lots of little things can contribute to making a challenging run into a real toughie.

Sometimes its the mental challenge. Just know that you CAN do this, it is tried and tested and really really works :-)

Dont forget you can do this programme at your own pace so if you needed to redo a week 3 run, or repeat week 4, thats fine too!

Good luck.

Deryn61-thank you for the reply. My problem is until W3 my legs did not hurt at all but since starting W4 the shins are quite painful and the pain lasts almost for 2 days so I am just bit concerned.

I do have proper running shoes and I jog like a tortoise.

I note you have proper running shoes but did you have your gait analysed before buying them, it is quite important to have the right shoes for your gait. Lots of articles about this online.

Yup-I bought them from a running shop after gait analysis .

I just finished W6R2. I will say that I found W4 somewhat hard, but I had to slow it up a lot that week and then found it fine... since that time I have kept same pace but I did drop back each week preceding and especially W4. I also found that if I didn't give myself a proper rest in between runs.. too much walking for instance, I struggled. Good luck!!

Oh and you may have to jog like a very slow tortoise :)

Thank you- I have to say, the shins were less painful after W4R2, so I will try W5 and see how things go.

Yes! I just cannot manage a 5 min run. I have tried 5 times, attempt 6 tonight and haven't once finished the complete 30 minutes. I had no problems with weeks 1 to 3 but feel beaten by week 4. Why? I've resorted to breaking the 5 minute runs down into 3 mins and 2 mins with a 90 sec walk in between but even then I really struggle

Try to slow down but dont know how too without having a really un-natural jogging style

Oh well best get off and try again...

Good Luck

Could you split it to 3:10 and 1:50 ...prove to yourself that you can go for longer than 3 min. Then perhaps 3:20 and 1:40 etc ....

Or 3 min plus 4 more paces
