A day of rest
A day of migraine
A day of rain
Finally a day for a running test
Not the ideal prep for run 2, but there you are. Today started brighter - Fibi Fardashian’s paws looking more like paws and less like a dogs breakfast. Bobster the Monster now limping on one leg instead of two, meant that we were able to go for a proper walk keeping to soft verges. 3 kilometres walk in Le Marche sun felt like a good run warm up session.
Run 2 beckoned, still listening to the Retro Runners Best Covers play list, and I set out to Money by the Flying Lizards, turning into Mill Lane Jo Cool was calm and reassuring, telling me I can do it and I’ve done it before
Not strictly true Jo - I totally messed up my runs but last time I ran ten minutes instead of nine. Mooching along Lovers Lane I realise my three minute run will start in the Forbidden Field - good news it’s downhill bad news it’s lumpy agricultural terrain and my balance is still compromised by lack of hearing in one ear.
Listening to the Tourists and Annie saying she only wants to be with you gave me a great sing a long opportunity which I took with some gusto. Apologies to anyone in Le Marche who heard my caterwauling.
My walk and smaller runs took place on the Bendy Scary Road, where I got overtaken by the usual lunchtime convoy of families going out to their nonnas for Sunday lunch. This weekend is the start of carnival and the shops, cafes and bars have carnival stuff everywhere- masks, harlequins and all the children are dressed up in costumes as it’s the children processions first.
Add in castagnole which are a fried doughnut affair with pink sugar and going for a run is a lot healthier than going into town for lunch, especially as carnival lasts for three weeks I love castagnole…and pretty much anywhere you buy stuff will offer you the carnival goodies, just for the joy of eating.
All I need to do now is to focus and complete my week 3 of C25K and at this point Jo Cool says I’m more then half way on the run and that completing this run gets me more than halfway through Week 3. All of which is very welcome news.. the sun is shining I’m a bit sweaty as the addition of gloves and bobble hat was perhaps a little over the top to keep me warm.
Yippee the last three minute run is signalled and I’m ahead of where j normally am, however the Slope of Hope is looming like a monster and at this point Jo Cool tells me I am 2 minutes into the last run so it will be getting easier, then Holly Johnson tells me I was born to run... really?
Jo you were fibbing I hit the Slope of Hope 15 % gradient at that precise time - right at the end of my energy. Holly - you needed to change the lyric to ‘baby you’re almost done’
No carnival celebrations for me just yet. Thankfully Jo realised I was cooked and told me we were fine and could start the final walk.
At this stage Jo Cool decided to share one of her favourite things post run - and apparently there’s nothing nicer than diving into a cold pool. Whaaat…. You’ve got to be joking it’s 6 degrees yes I’m warmish but the thought of a cold pool. No Jo, you have this all wrong I’m a lizard by nature, I seek sun and warmth.
You’re cool, I’m hot and bothered but a scorching hot shower is beckoning.
Jo said I was more than half way through week 3 and as Mr JCR often says I am now more then half way to half way - that’s 8 runs done out of 27 / half way is 13.5
More than held way to half way feels like a milestone - but please Jo Cool don’t ask me to celebrate with a cold dip…
