Carers Fatigue

First run today since my wife of nearly 54 years passed away, only 1.8k but another start. It gave me a chance to realise that as my wife needed more & more help, my running got slower & slower. You don't look at caring as a chore, it's something you just do out of love, and don't realise the toll it takes until you stop. It's back to c25k now but running on the hills of Derbyshire near my son & family instead of sunny Dorset.

So sorry for your loss Jonwil . I hope that your running and being with your family help you during this time. Derbyshire must have many beautiful places to run.

🍏Our condolences to you on the loss of your wife. Caring takes every ounce of emotional & physical energy. Then comes the grief. You have & are probably still going through much! How wonderful she had all that love to the very end & that you are near your family in Derbyshire! The hills will be a wonderful challenge! I am so pleased you are able to do C25K again. It’s something positive to focus on and to enjoy. May your earlier happy memories sustain you. Please let us know how the runs go! It’s good to have you on the forum! 😊

So very sorry for your loss Jonwil . Caring for someone you love can take every scrap of your emotional and physical energy. 54 years together is something really special, the experience of caring has its own joys and sorrows.

Wishing you all the best for your adjustment to this new phase. I hope the running helps.

How lovely to see you here, after such an emotional and difficult time... love is immeasurable, and you kept giving,

Time now to heal and be with those who love you and will support you.

What a lovely location too, just a little way from where I am... and one of Mr OF's and I favourite places to be... Lots of lovely running there. Some super flat trails too, as well as hills:)

Take it slow and steady and let Nature be part of the healing process x

Many condolences- caring is so draining and grief so hard xx. Hoping your new fresh air exercise regime gives you the chance to relax and recharge. Being outside can bring such peace and headspace and an added bonus is nobody can see you cry or hear you scream which can be very cathartic. Xxx

Even before we moved here for other reasons, I used to talk about getting 'a dose of Derbyshire' There are some sorts of landscape features that really help the sense of perspective amidst sadness and Derbyshire is blessed with them.

Revisiting C25K seems a brilliant plan for your situation and I hope it brings you much comfort.

A caring role for a family member is massively impacting. I’m sorry for your loss. I hope the grief is bearable (it comes in waves, I know). Your running is a really positive and healthy way to carry on with life. All the best, SM
