my 11 yr old and I have just finished week 3 but I have really struggled with the last 2 runs due to shin pain and a pain on the inside of my right knee. I tried to push through this but look like I’m now limping while running!
Never run before. Definitely in need of loosing a stone - didn’t know if weight is a factor.
Any advice greatly appreciated. Many thanks.

hi C25k2023 …how lovely that your son is running along with you?!!
All I can suggest is Gait analysis..have you had one? Sometimes it can be your shoes causing the aches and pains as we all run and land very differently so having a gait analysis at a running shop and getting the correct shoes might just be the answer…
Also, make sure you are doing plenty of stretching before and after your runs
I also found that as a more mature (debatable) runner starting out, a soak in the bath with magnesium salts really helped ease any aches and pains afterwards, as well as paying attention to making sure that I did a good warm.up and cool down after each run. Stretches were key for me.I went for gait analysis and bought myself some running shoes after knowing I would keep it up, as a little gift to myself and these also helped with the calf pains.
Keeping my speed slow (slower that I walk, usually) felt really odd, and counterintuitive - surely running is faster than walking, right?
I take my 11 year old with me sometimes too and they are great motivation to keep going.
