I'm super slow (15 min mile average including walking) but am comfortable doing the runs & thoroughly enjoying the programme 😊
W3R2- tortoise 🐢 & hare comes to mind but I’m... - Couch to 5K
W3R2- tortoise 🐢 & hare comes to mind but I’m loving this adventure!
Well, you could always run faster, get exhausted and possibly injured and give up completely..........or you could continue as you are and build your stamina, enjoyment, improve future health prospects and have fun.
There is no contest........you are doing great.
Keep running, keep smiling.
The best way to run, just gently go without the rush.
I’ve got my W3 R2 tomorrow and am also super slow but just the fact I can actually do it is amazing. I’m just keeping the faith and trying to just think of each run at a time! You’re not alone - we’re doing it even if it is slow! 👍🏻 🏃🏼♀️
Great, try measuring pace in Kms seeing as you are aiming for a 10k. You will be surprised how much faster it seems! 😉. I've found slow is good, great advice from the mentors. And pace of 9mins/km gives you a Parkrun time of 45 mins when you do 5k and you'll find yourself in company at that pace. That was my aim following C25K but I've found that pace has improved since having that as my aim just from consolidating my 30 minutes runs. Give it time, whatever potential you have locked away, will emerge.
hey there just wondering wat pace you started at? That time is the pace im aiming for aswell lol n how long did it take you to achieve after c25k?
Hi, well a good question so I've just gone back and checked my runs, Strava is brilliant as a diary because I make notes too! I finished 9/3 on June 4th and my fastest split was 9.15/km hence me saying a target of 45 minutes for 5k. I started immediately on a 5-10 k routine but with advice knew I was going to stretch this out with multiple week repeats I'm at week 3 now! I did two paced out 5k's at slow/walk in the following two weeks and then on June 18th did my first Parkrun. The parkrun is dead flat, my run from my house has about a 1% gradient in some short hills. So amazingly I did the Parkrun in 40.29. They say you always surprise yourself on your first Parkrun, the adrenaline and the other runners pull you round. But I've stayed consistent and my 5th Parkrun was hot and I thought I was deliberately going slow but did 38.43! I'm up early so will be off soon, always run in the morning cool. I'm now on the 60 minutes JuJu. I've decided not to worry about pace, to stick at my slow steady, pace will come with time. PS never run in my life until recovery from a stroke in mid March aged 70 male. Good running, I love it.
Slow and steady. Really good advice, enjoying your run is more important than speed, unless you are planning on entering a race.
This brings to mind the tortoise from 'Fingerbobs' back in the early 70s (repeated in the 80's I think.) It's introduction went:
"slowly, steadily
I move at my own pace
They call me flash
Though I won't dash
Who wants to run a race?
As long as I get there
Why worry?
What's the hurry?"
im super slow too but its def a good pace for me atm keep at it
That’s about my average too. But I don’t care because I’m doing my best. Keep running and enjoy yourself 🏃♀️
