Hello, I have just started with Couch to 5k and I have completed my first week but I am noticing I have pain in my hip joints. Has anyone experienced that? Any suggestions or tips how to deal?

Joint pain after 3 runs
Hi, I had very bad knee pain which disappeared as soon as I had gait analysis and bought some proper running trainers, I was amazed the difference they made. Could it be your shoes perhaps?
Well done for starting the runs!
I have been having shin pain and the experienced runners on here advised to do stretches before and after runs and it’s really helped. You will get lots of help and support from this forum, you only have to ask.
Good luck for your next run!

Welcome to the forum and well done on getting started.
Knee and hip pain is generally caused by the impact of running, so follow the advice in the guide to the plan on minimising impact, stretching after every run, hydration and strengthening exercises, all of which will help
This guide to the plan is essential reading healthunlocked.com/couchto5...
Enjoy your journey.
Welcome to the forum and the program .It can take time for your body to adapt to the rigours of running, but you should definitely read the guide to the plan (if you haven't already ) and remember to do the 'Dynamic' warm up excercises and the 'Static' stretches after you run .
Be careful not to mix these up !
Take all runs slowly, like a slow jog and remember to keep hydrated !
All this will have an effect on your run and on your recovery .
Hope it helps 👍
Don't compare yourself to other runners, you are a beginner (and they were once) so just go slowly. You can search for a video on Japanese slow running and that is the perfect way to start. Also, we are all different and you may feel better if you have two days of rest in-between your run days. It doesn't matter if your "run week" is longer than 7 days; not everyone completes the programme in the 9 weeks, you just take as long as you need.
Good Luck
I had the same problem initially. It was partly due to starting exercise, being overweight, and age. Following recommendations from this group, I took the runs more slowly, began stretching, had two days recovery time and used Epsom salts in the bath after each run. These all helped.Once I graduated, I went and had gait analysis done. Immediately on seeing my gait, the man in the shop said "bet you have had problems with your hip". New, proper running shoes have completed the 'cure'.
Best of luck with your journey, and listen to your body. Looking forward to hearing how you get on.
