Hay fever!

So, hay fever is really starting to get the better of me on these runs. The last two times I’ve been out I feel like I’ve been breathing in treacle. Any tips out there from other hay fever sufferers? I already take daily antihistamines but any other advice would be very gratefully received!

Run as early in the day as possible.

Wear sunglasses if eyes are affected.

A face mask or buff can help filter the air.

Great. I’ll give all of these a try, thank you.

I'm not a sufferer thankfully Em23P but a few friends are, one swears by a little vaseline around his nostrils as it saves the pollen being inhaled 👍

I might give that a go - can’t make me look any shinier than I usually do out running!

I reckon with the hay fever any thing is worth a try, it's very hit and miss, according to which types of pollen cause a person the most discomfort 👍

I suffered from hay fever from the age of 7. It is mainly tree pollen that is causing problems right now. I am affected by grass pollen usually starts around 20th May and finishes at the end of July. The advice to run early and wear sunglasses is spot on. I’ve never been a fan of the Vaseline but it has to be worth a try for you. Do you know which kind of pollen affects you? Pollen tends to try and settle late evening so that can be a tricky time. Are you running in a park or wooded area near trees? If the grass pollen season also affects you then you have a double whammy. During grass pollen season I intend to carry on early and wearing sunglasses with antihistamines. Opticrom eye drops are very good for me but they do sting for a few seconds. Good luck plow through the pollen season👍
