I've really suffered in the past, so I know your pain! Presumably you have got exercises to try to improve it, such as using a hard ball, rolling pin etc underneath your foot to try to improve it? If not, google can help you out. Running may well be helping if it's meaning that you're stretching more, as tight calf muscles definitely contribute to it. Be aware that you need some good arch support in your shoes though (preferably day to day as well as running, my recommendation is the green superfeet for day to day shoes but I'm sure other brands are available). I was told not to walk around barefoot as it doesn't offer any support to your arch, although I still do around the house and my feet still improved with the exercises etc.
thanks for reply,I had same on other foot about 3yr ago and had some special insoles made from hospital which I m now wear at work as I'm on feet for 12hrs. But this just went overnight...a few people have said it's a heel spur which snaps off naturally think I need to get a scan..the running does ease it so I'll carry on with c25k
