Hi I’m a newbie. Lockdown has been cruel to my waist line and I am feeling less and less healthy. I have had the app for a while and not been motivated at all. I’m starting tomorrow I need this 🙌🏻. Any tips I would be so grateful for 😃 can’t deny little scared I just always feel like I can’t breathe when I run 🤨

Just take your time, a light jog is all it takes to get going. Keep hydrated and get a good playlist. You got this! 😊

Well done on your decision to start !Just noticed you say you can't breathe when you run .

That's because your trying to run too fast !

Big tip for tomorrow MAKE THE RUNS SLOW !

then make them EVEN SLOWER 😁👍

Getting out for the first run is the toughest! Just get that done and the rest will follow. We all start out too fast and the pace isn't maintainable, keep it nice and slow and it'll be a lot more enjoyable. Enjoy.

Top tips: post regularly on this forum. It’s great for encouragement and advice.

It’s not a race, go as slow as you can. Do the time and go slow.

Also, one of the hardest runs to do is week one day one.. the first getting out is such a challenge! But just do it, it will be tough but you will be sooo chuffed with yourself!!

Good for you! Jog as slow as you can and I found morning best as running later gave me too much time to talk myself out of it 👀

And its ok to be outpaced by walkers during the first few weeks 🙃

I graduated in January! Managed to do 5k in 33 minutes last week! So chuffed.

Hope all the advice helped, Booty! The breathing is/was the hardest part of running for me ... keep following the lots of brilliant advice on here. Keep posting 😊 🏃‍♀️ 🏃‍♂️ 👍🏼

Don't worry if you have to repeat weeks because you couldn’t do the previous. I repeated a few weeks till I was able to do that week reasonably comfortably. You’ll be surprise what you can do. A lot is mind over matter. Now I can run 40 minutes, week 1 I could barely manage 1 minute. Healthy eating and running have meant a 51lb weight loss for me.

Well done you!!! Thanks for the advice 😀

I know other people have said this but it really does bear repeating: if you are having trouble breathing when you run then you are are trying to run too fast - Slow Down!

Good luck!

On week 3 I think it was. The best tip ever is to breathe in very deeply and let it out the same pace. I don't get out of breath at all now but need to concentrate as slip into shallow breathing far too easily. Not enough oxygen in shallow breaths. The programme is brilliant. It has been worked out so well. I'm 68 on W7 and never found it too challenging.

Thank you for that advice. That’s my problem always with running so I will deffo try that. Sounds like your doing brilliant 😆
