Managed to do 36 minutes run but only can get to 2.7 miles, I know I’m slow but really trying hard as on w9 run1 so hoping for 5 k at the end of week at 40 mins and 49 years of age, and I have Multiple Sclerosis too .
Slow Run : Managed to do 36 minutes run but only... - Couch to 5K
Slow Run
Well done to you Nina8034 on running for 36 minutes, don't worry about that 2.7 miles, many people can't run for 2.7 minutes let alone 36 minutes, good luck for your last two runs of week 9, good luck for your graduation run.
You dont have to do 5k in 30 minutes, just run for 30 minutes and doesnt matter how far you go. It should be called couch to 30 minutes!! LOL. You are doing great - enjoy it.
I wouldn’t say that’s slow - I’d say that Is marvellous. You are likely to be bombarded with messages telling you not to worry about pace and they will all be right. 36 mins of running is 36 mins of running no matter how far you manage to ‘travel’. I use a running app but I really don’t pay much attention to pace anymore because there are so many factors that can have an impact and I’m not in a race so why bother.
Well done on your achievements thus far 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Only a small proportion of graduates from this forum who responded to a poll, managed 5k in 30 minutes by graduation healthunlocked.com/couchto5....
Graduation requirements are that you complete three thirty minute runs, regardless of distance.
Please don't try to run 5k at the end of W5 if it is going to take you an hour........that will be far too big a step in duration. Far better to build up to your 5k in small increments, as per C25K, otherwise you risk injury which could stop you for days, weeks or even months.
I have only just reached the 5k (graduated last month). It takes me about 40 minutes but the speed really doesn’t matter. We are out there running!! 😁 Just enjoy it. x
Wow that's impressive 👍
I agree speed does not matter , I personally would like to complete 5K in 40 minutes after doing the full program, my goal I set.I can still talk and sing by the end of a run as a brought the slow jogging book which helped me through this new challenge .
Well done wouldn’t says that’s slow , really good time . Your not far now from 5km but as the others say take your time and slow. You’re doing exceptionally well under your circumstances withMS good for you. Take care🤗
Thank you, I do believe I will achieve my goal, but I am aware that my ms does slow me down as I worry about falling over hence me going at a slow pace but loving it..
That's a huge achievement running for that length of time! Keep it up. You have to complete 3 x 30minutes of continuous running not 5k to graduate. You are a true superstar! I look forward to seeing your posts about future runs 😁
I have two more runs to complete and so excited to be near the finish line .Thank you for your kind comments much appreciated .👍
Thats a very good pace. For context, I ran my first 5 k, two years ago having followed this plan. I was 48 and it took me 39 minutes and I didn't have MS . I think 2.7 miles at this stage is pretty amazing, so look on what you've achieved so far and use that as a stepping stone to your post-graduation goals.
