Running, indeed any exercise, can create pressure in your digestive tract which can cause acid reflux.

This article explains it and some preventative measures you can take runnersworld.com/nutrition-...

It is not an issue that has been raised on this forum many times in my experience.

If you follow the advice in the guide to the plan on leaving an appropriate time between eating and running, you will more than likely solve the problem.

Thanks so much for that 👍

I had it, and it was worse on hills. I put it down to all the jiggling of my middle. Run straight, no swinging arms in front of the body, and eating at least an hour before running. Make sure you’re running slowly 👍🙂

The food thing will evolve to suit you. Bit trial and error to start with

Have fun

I have this problem but have chronic reflux- taking an antacid before leaving also helps.

I have a small hiatus hernia which hadn't caused a problem for ages before I started the programme. A few hours after my first run I had chest pain so we called the paramedics. After checking me out they concluded it was reflux, not cardiac, so I was good to go! Restarted the programme a few weeks later, avoiding cups of tea and reclining after runs, and no problems since! Eventually graduated in March with support from this forum, generally telling me to slow down. So hopefully it can be managed fine, but if in doubt get checked out. All the best, wait to hear good news of your progress.

Thanks ReadandRun , yes I have reflux but had an ecg recently which was normal so I decided to start the c25K , followed advice for my 2nd run this morning and reflux was less problematic , impressive you carried on and finished despite a health issue so that’s inspiring , thanks for your kindness 👍
