6.5k!

Having never thought I could run 5k (yes I completed C25K but 30 minutes only got me to about 3.5k) I can now run 5k (still slowly) and am aiming for 10K! I think that’s pretty good for a 70 year old who’s never run before. No longer care about being passed by everyone!

Congratulations.

I’m so mightily impressed - and inspired. Thank you so much for sharing. And do keep us posted on your progress towards your next goal - 10k ... sounds such a big number to many of us more recent starters.

It’s an amazing achievement whatever your age! Well done. Running slowly is still running and you’ve already discovered you have your own journey. I think you were faster than me on your graduation run, I think I managed 3.2K ! I soon realised I wouldn’t be running 5K in 30 minutes any time soon. Still can’t 😂

I’m sure you will get to 10K - and beyond, if you want to! Good luck and happy running 👏👏👏🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️👍

It takes me about 50 minutes to run 5K! But at least now I know I can do it which is a big improvement on last year which was when I graduated. But then I had a rotator cuff injury and my partner died in May so getting back has been difficult. So I did the C25K all over again in July. This time I’m much fitter and have more stamina! It helps with bereavement too.

I’m so sorry for all you are going through. Running helps with everything! And it doesn’t matter how long it takes you to run 5K, the fact that you run for 50 minutes is a fantastic achievement! And your determination is inspirational.

I thought of it like this: the time spent running is the focus. The distance isn’t as important, although obviously you hit milestones on the way. Gradually increasing the time spent running will eventually get you to that 10K. In your own time and at your own pace.

I do other shorter runs, too. But it’s the long, slow runs that I love! 🏃‍♀️👍

Great achievement Painterabstract, your increasing your distance very nicely, you’ll be up to 10k soon. Have you tried Nike Run Club app, it’s really good for consolidation runs 👍🏃‍♂️

That's amazing, well done on getting to 5k, and i'm like you, still running quite slowly, about the same, 3.5km, in 30 mins, will take a while to get to the magic 5k for me!!! 😂
