I'm not a runner! I'm hoping a lot of people say this in the beginning then go on to run like Forrest Gump π but I'm really not a runner, just not built for it but I'm going to give it a go and see what happens. I've been inspired by this group/page and reading all about it. Now time to get off the couch πββοΈ wish me luck!
Starting tomorrow π€: I'm not a runner! I'm... - Couch to 5K
Starting tomorrow π€
Definitely good luck. So many of us have not run before and are constantly amazed to do this programme. I couldnβt believe I could run more than the 1 min in that first week. Now Iβm approaching wk 9 and 30 min runs. Go slow, drink lots, stretch and do strengthening exercises To protect your knees and hips. Donβt be afraid to repeat some runs if you feel the need to improve your stamina. Good luck.
I had never run in 56 years until June. In a minute I am off for a little 5k with my daughters. If I can do it anyone can. Good luck ππ€
I hear you - i 'm built for shot putt but try to notch up 20K a week and that is from just steady away runs, putting the time in and learning from the benefits of starting slow with the C25K app - Michael Johnson rocks! Get a good play list and a little bottle of water if it helps. I'm 54 and happy with getting out there and feeling alive.
Good luck. The hardest bit is pulling on the trainers and getting out the door that first time.
I was like you back in June - Never done any running since school and that was mostly to escape the dinosaurs. Just follow along with the app, keep on it and you will be amazed at what will happen!
I never ran before this either, not even in school. Trust the programme, don't try to go fast and drink at least 2 litres of fluid the day before you run.
Read some first posts and you'll see that we all doubted our ability to do this.
Post your progress. This is a very supportive group ππ
Welcome to the forum and well done on your decision .
This guide to the plan is essential reading healthunlocked.com/couchto5...
and includes advice on minimising impact, stretching after every run, hydration and strengthening exercises, all of which will help.
Enjoy your journey.
Good luck today! Welcome aboard! You can do it, just follow the plan, stick to it and don't give up. You can do it!
Good luck and well done for deciding to do it - youβll be very surprised at what youβre capable of and im sure after a few weeks you will love running π
If you are a human being (and I'm taking the liberty of assuming you are π), you are definitely a natural runner. Just maybe not a natural Olympic runner.
Humans evolved to run long, slow distances. Give your mind and body time and patience to find this out and you won't regret it.
Good luck and keep posting here for tips and encouragement. π
Good π you can do it....PMA wins every time.go for it, we all in the forum are here for the same reason.
Follow the app its brilliant π
It was my first day yesterday too! We can do this π
Welcome to the forum! ππ
Be prepared for this running lark to get a grip of you!
The transformation you will see in yourself is quite literally unbelievable... itβs magical!
I definitely was not a runner!... for starters my legs are far too short! π
Week 1 - I went out thinking 60 seconds running ... Iβve got this! Easy peasey! My eye was well and truly wiped... I was done in at 20 seconds!π³ but you do it!... I promise you! Iβm doing 5kβs and have even done 6,7 and 10k so if I can then so will you! ππ
Trust the programme... the achievement snd the feel good factor is amazing... the people on here are just the best running family you could wish for and will support you unconditionally π
Post on here after every run!... the energy you get back is unreal! I definitely would have stopped without my running family!
Slow!... Go slow and then drop a gear and go even slower!
This might help...
Canβt wait to read your progress π
Thatβs exactly what I said, Iβm not a natural runnerβ Well maybe not but Iβm a runner now! 53 and can comfortably knock out 5k. Whoβd have thought it!
Trust the program and youβll get there. A quick heads up - it does get easier. Honest π.
