I've decided after seeing pics of myself that I'm really not happy with and getting into a bit of a rut, that I'm starting couch to 5k tomorrow morning. I've never been a runner, even as a kid, so this is quite daunting. My BF who does a bit a running has said he's coming to keep me motivated. Wish me luck. :-)

Oh well done!  The hardest bit is getting out for that first run/walk session.

One tip.  Go very slowly.  The whole program is to be done slowly.  Slow but sure is the mantra.  Don't letting running man persuade you to speed up.  

Stick with it!  It's possibly the best thing you will ever do ☺

Kitk, well done, as misswoble has said the hardest part is the first one, nice and slow is the order of the day.

Tomorrow i do run 1 of week 8 and would have to say this programme has been a life changer for me. Hadn't ran since 1983!!! but decided that i needed to get off the couch and be a fitter person.

Loving the running now just wish my legs would agree sometimes :) 

Just follow what the podcast says and keep it nice and slow  and i am sure you will be fine  :)

Believe in yourself, trust the programme and go slow; that is all it takes to successfully complete the C25K journey.

That's great- the first few runs are where the habit is formed. Six weeks ago I struggled to run for one or two minutes. This morning I'm gearing up to head out in wind and rain to do week 7 run 1. Never would have imagined this would be my Bank Holiday Monday morning! Stick with the programme and have only one goal- complete each run, no matter how slowly. Good luck and keep posting on here. I found it v motivational.

Good for you, go for it! I hadn't done any running since school in ........ the 70's!! It is a fantastic programme and everyone on this community are so supportive.

Go for it! I had NEVER done any exercise and am 55, but just graduated and like Celtprof I am gearing up to go out in the rain.   The programme will get you through it.  Good luck!

Welcome! Hope you did/do get out there. This may well be on of the best things you have ever done...:)

Your first run...exciting! As the others say... slow, steady and stick to the programme... and success will be yours!

Folks on here are great, for encouraging, commiserating, supporting and sometimes giving a gentle push :)

We are here, with you all the way... so...keep posting please :)

Good luck and enjoy it! I am due to start week 2 day one.  Its the motivation I needed tbh.  First week was ok but I am still finding it hard fitting in half an hour a day for myself.  The other big problem I have and I am hoping admin will answer this... I have a huge worry about having a heart attack whilst runing.  There is no reason why I should but just this nagging fear.

Lyndsf I had the same worry,  but I had the all clear from the doc to start running.  Yes your chest will get tight and you may trip over your lungs a few times but just be confident that in those early days your body will let you know well before you overdo it. The worry falls away after a week or two as your confidence grows. 

The main thing is that you are making your heart healthier with every step so in fact you are seriously reducing the risk of heart problems. Good luck and remember to smile😀😀

Well done for making the right decision. Many of us hadn't run for decades and are all now hooked on running. It really is a life changer - some of the stories on here are amazing!

Just take it slow and steady. Stick to the programme and keep posting on here. There are all sorts of levels posting on here, some of us are exploring life as a graduate, others have just started out. It's very inspirational!

Good decision you will never regret it! You find something inside yourself you never knew was there and it seems to feed into everything else you do! Don't be put off by those hard days that slap you round the kisser from time to time. You will get passed them, we all have, and even now I find some runs just plain awful but I know it won't be like that next time. 

Good luck and you've certainly come to the right place to share your ups and downs! We're all family here!

It will be one of the best decisions you make. I've just graduated and if you told me 9 weeks ago I would be able to run for 30 mins I wouldn't have believed you. Never ran at school and didn't think that at nearly 50 I would be bitten by the running bug. Stick with the programme and you will be amazed at what you can achieve.

Well I've done run one....and I'm still standing. I did it along with Endomondo so I know I covered just under 3.5kms. I really started to feel it in my calves after about run minute 4 and I'm quite proud of myself that didn't wimp out of any of the hills in the park where I chose to run. 

Dom was fab running with me...on the run sections he always dropped back so I wasn't tempted to push my pace. He actually said I looked OK running 😂  

One down and all that! :-)

Congratulations on your first run, Kit. I'm very impressed with your friend dropping back during the run sections so you didn't push too hard -very sensitive and sensible (obviously knows a fair bit about running!!) All I would say is don't get hung up about distance at the moment. All you need to do is run, the distance you cover is completely irrelevant until after you graduate. Good luck, you've made a great start. 😀😀

Good luck, don't try to keep up with your friend take it at your own pace. I did all of the first three weeks twice ;)

That was me to a 'T' last year ... hubs is a runner, I never have been but I found the programme the only thing that ha ever got me up and out and going! Just got back from a wet and windy 8k as it happens which was never on my radar in a million years before last November! Some great support here, keep us all posted, we're with you and well done ... the hardest run is the very first one because it means you've made the decision to get out there ... best of luck! :-)

So today has been my "rest day" and I've demolished a rockery and moved about a tonne of rocks....my legs and back can certainly feel it now. Not sure how tomorrow will go...but I'll keep pushing :-)
