First consolidation run - decent but still not brave enough to go 'off piste'

First of all, a quick apology for the radio silence. I promise to catch up on posts ASAP and I hope everyone is doing well 🙂. Did my first consolidation run today, my first ever tea-time run. It felt very odd: not good or bad just different. I think I'll stick with my morning runs even though I managed another decent time and another 5k towards my Marathon Month Challenge. I took that as a bonus considering I only had 4 hours'sleep. Not ready to leave the safety of my cosy sportsfield yet but I'm sure I'll get there at some point 🙂

5K on 4 hours sleep, well done 👏 Your marathon month challenge sounds like a great incentive 😊

It really is CazzaW. I was going to leave it today and run tomorrow but with October weather being unpredictable at best, I thought I'd better make the use of the dry day. I was willing it to rain though as it was overcast and warmer than expected but no such luck lol

Well done. I attempted one today and my stomach muscles were still painful from Friday so I stopped immediately. Will try again tomorrow. Well done you!

Yeah, it's not worth pushing it too much as it'll just be uncomfortable and you don't want to do yourself an injury. There's always tomorrow 🙂

Tomorrow and tomorrow and tomorrow, creeps in this petty pace from day to day.

Well done you ! I’m sure it did feel strange , all my runs are early morning and it did cross my mind that I should go running sort of ‘anytime’ really. Don’t quite know how I feel about that though 🤔

I’m getting better at my ‘meandering’ round the village though ( where there is a higher chance of people 😱😂)

Be brave , you can run 5k in a jolly good time now .... you can pull it off 👌

Haha! I'm happy being a coward a tiny bit longer but I'll get out there eventually. It's so funny how much running at a different time felt so strange. Like you, I had the same thought that I should be able to go running any time. Ah well, I've got one under my belt now so while I'll still to my mornings, I won't be completely against evenings either 🙂

Interesting that it felt different. I like sticking to my routine, but today I delayed my run for an hour till the rain had cleared up. The hour difference affected the numbers of people I saw and the amount of traffic when crossing main roads.

I had to finish a little early as a wasp took a fancy to my left heel and stung me🥴

Ooo ouch! They're usually pretty dozy this time of year, you obviously found one with a bit of an attitude still. How do you find having to pause to cross the road? Does it put you off your stride at all? I haven't really crossed that hurdle yet

This app/website has been telling me “something has gone wrong” with my reply numerous times! It’s really frustrating. Trying it now on a laptop...

Crossing main roads is less than ideal, but living in an urban area I can’t avoid it. Usually I can time it right, though of course safety has to be number one and I choose the best crossing places. A couple of times I’ve had to run up and down for a minute while waiting 🥴 My estate has a maze of footpaths, a couple of parks and a stretch of canal reconstruction, so I can put together a variety of interesting routes.

Ah thanks for replying, especially as you had to log onto your laptop! No I suppose it is unavoidable but I just wondered if it disrupted the run at all. That's good that you can vary your route and keep things interesting 🙂

Well done! 💪 I'm still hoping for a 5km but not there just yet. You're inspiring me so keep going 😁

Ah thanks so much Burkey46! It was definitely a push and I was shattered when I finished, but I was over the moon. I hope your post C25k runs are treating you well 🙂

Thanks Maxi80! Yes I've signed myself up for the Cancer Research Marathon Challenge (26.2 miles in a month) so if I can chip away 3miles on a few of the earlier runs, I won't be under too much pressure if the weather turns nasty towards the end of the month. How are you getting on? Are you still enjoying your walks? I bet it gets pretty blustery on the racetrack

The racecourse is pretty open but I love the wind and rain blowing in my face!
