Hi all!

Started week 3 today, but I’m suffering shin splints! Every time I start to run they start hurting and my calf’s feel like lead! Can anyone recommend anything to do to ease the pain or prevent it? I feel like the pain is going to hold me back the longer the runs get and I don’t want to give up!

I'm in the exact same position. Just started week 3 and had to stop mid run the pain was so bad! I'm so upset abt it!

Having cut a run short today due to feeling the first signs of shin splints myself, I understand your frustration.

The best thing you can do is rest it a few days. If there's any ongoing discomfort maybe ice the area for 10 minutes every three or four hours.

Non impact exercise can help, too. Walking or cycling is OK. Running, hopping, skipping and jumping are out.

Then look into calf strengthening exercises.
