Any suggested things to do whilst I can't run?

Managed to do 5k in the last run of week 6, It seemed easy.

Wanted to do better distance, in 25 minutes than that. Really went for it and didn't listen to my body (I have a very shiny titanium hip after falling out of a bunk bed on a holiday).

ended up with a sore hip and a bad back.

Still miss running - trying to replace it with a strength and flexibility program, a HIT workout and a fast 5k walk each day. Can I do these daily?

What does your body say?

My body said not to run but my mind said I needed some other non-impact activity.

Took up strength and flex exercises, and did some HIT workouts (only the exercises) that felt comfortable. Bough some more cushioned running shoes and tried out Week 7 run 1 again today, at a slower pace.

Hopefully back to it.

Thanks for your support.

Ok, so I ran for slightly more than 25 minutes... My headphones had stopped working.

Some sort of activity is good if it doesn't cause pain or aggravate the injury you're recovering from.

What is making you strive for faster and longer while you're doing C25K?

Your body is making it quite clear what it thinks.

Bit late to tell you now, but the c25k program is not designed to make you faster, but to get bodies moving that are not used to it. It's building up stamina, strengthening muscles and cardio. When you complete week 9, you can consolidate for 3 weeks, and only then think about working on speed. When your body has built up the necessary strength and stamina.

Anyway, you are now injured, so you do what your body can take. Allow yourself some rest days the day after you do high impact exercise, or you risk injury. Can your hip cope with your brisk walking, or are you ignoring it? Come on, be honest now. You need patience to recover from injury, or you risk further setbacks.

Maybe see a physio if you find it hard to judge how much is safe for you? They can give you an exercise program to follow. Best of luck, and be careful!!!

I got back to brisk walking as soon as my hip would allow.

Before then I worked on some basic non-impact strength and flexibility training. And some 7 minute HIT workouts.

When I got back to walking I started with brisk 5k walks.

Felt ok yesterday, and better today, so I got back at it.

Completed week 7 run 1, at a slower pace, 4.75km (I find it hard to jog much slower).

Will rest up and see how I feel tomorrow.

Hey that all sounds really promising! I know what you mean about finding it hard to go slower, I seem to always revert to the same sort of speed and I have to really think about it to go slower. Sounds like the rest and the strength exercises have done the trick 🤞

Happy running!

Body said no,

I took 2 weeks off. Pain has almost completely gone (it will never go entirely 'cos I had a bit of hip pain before starting running). I bought some more cushioned shoes to reduce the impact.

Restarted on Week 7 run 1 again today, and just took it at an easy pace, All feels good.
