Disaster 😔

So I just massively failed wk7 run 1.

I’m not sure if it because I’ve just returned back to work or if because I’ve tried do do the run now instead of just a early morning but stupidly I tried a different route so it threw me off. Made it to 9 mins and encountered a hill so paused and walked up it, then carried on running but just couldn’t do it, my back aches, my feet hurt. I made it to 12 1/2 mins and just gave up and have come back home.

Do I try again in the morning or leave it till thur/Friday before trying again.

I’m so disappointed with myself.

Don't be disappointed, you've come so far, be proud of what you have achieved. I made the mistake of going out on an afternoon last week instead of early morning, it was no good for me either. I would give yourself a day to rest then maybe go back to the route you are comfortable with. 😊

Bad luck on that but a bit of bad planning I think on your behalf. Maybe you should have checked the route out beforehand. 90% of the runs here on in are in your head. You know you can run for 25 minutes as you've done it on the end of week 6. So you've gone out and hit a hill and then doubted yourself and stopped..

In that situation you've got 2 options as far as I can see...

1 slow right down and run the hill but don't stop. Keep steps short.

2 turn around and carry on running on a different route and get home a different way.

Either way you gain the mental advantage by not stopping and getting the job done.

However don't be too hard on yourself. Think of what you've achieved so far. Put it down to experience and consider it a practise run. Next time with a bit better preparation you'll smash this and get your confidence back. You can run for 25 minutes. Take a rest day and then try again. Good luck for next time.👍😁

No, don't be too disappointed about that run, never use the word fail here on C25K, that was a practice run, don't run tomorrow, anyway you can't run on consecutive days, take a extra day off before running that 25 minute run, remember that you have already ran for 25 minutes on run 3 of week 6.

Strangely enough for some runners running on a different route can throw some runners off, I tend to keep to the same route with a few variations for all my runs, 5Ks and 10Ks, I once measured where 10K was from my house, I have never ran on that road, but the equivalent distance shocked me to where 6 miles (10K) is from where I live.

No, no, we don’t use the f word on here! You went out to experiment with a different time and route, and found it didn’t work for you! So you went out and did a practice for the real run. Don’t be disheartened, it happens! Go back to what works and try again, you’ll do it next time!

Do not beat yourself up. Definitely take a days break. Choose a different route and go slowly. Just try the run with music or another distraction (podcast or audio tape). Every runner comes across ups and downs (even professional ones). Main thing is not to give up with the programme. Many people have a few goes at some weeks (some of us are repeatingthe whole programme 😘). Take care and happy running. 🏃🏻‍♀️🏃🏼‍♀️🤸🏻‍♀️👍

Hills! I have been known to do a few circles rather than go up a hill, especially if it meant finishing the run.

I still don't like them, but they get better as time goes on .

Don't despair, take your rest day, find somewhere flattish and try again. You will do it 🤩

No no NO! I want to give you a big virtual hug 🤗

Don’t you dare use the F word!!!

You’re on week 7!!! That’s amazing!

Don’t dare be so hard on yourself!

Try it again lovely!.. but please take a rest day or even 2 in between. it’s no biggie! Promise!

Please don’t be disappointed in yourself!

Sometimes new routes do throw us! I tried one last week and it threw up a couple of sneaky inclines!..

This is more of a mental than physical battle so don’t let it get in your head. I did that with week 5 (dangerous)

I found week 7 a challenge and almost stopped myself so I know how it feels

You have got this lady! Imagine the post you put on here once you’ve completed! Yipeeeee!

No need to feel disappointed, you tried something different and it didn’t work, that’s perfectly fine. Just go back to what you’re comfortable with and have another go 😊
