Hi I’m Richard I started using the app 8 weeks ago today I’m going in to the last week ! I suffer with depression and recently lost my wife to cancer, just wanted to let you guys know, and now I’m going to start looking on the bright side of life through the app. Looking forward to completing this week and I’ll keep on running 👍

I'm so sorry to hear about your wife. Hopefully running is giving you space to think about your goals and where you go from here. I think running gives you a positive mental attitude as well as the benefits of being in the great outdoors. Its been hard recently with lockdown so doing something for yourself is important.

You have got this. Good luck for your last week.

I'm on the same week as you, due to do run 2 tomorrow. Due to work commitments I cannot do the last run until Saturday, so we will completing about the same time.

Welcome to the forum and well done on your progress.

This guide to the plan is essential reading healthunlocked.com/couchto5...

and includes advice on minimising impact, stretching after every run, hydration and strengthening exercises, all of which will help.

Running is a great way to get us through some of the crap that life throws at us and helps us to discover aspects of your personality that we never knew existed.

Enjoy your journey.

Hi Richard. I'm so sorry to hear you have lost your wife recently. She would be so proud of you on this journey, I'm sure. Exercise, especially outdoors, is so good for both physical and mental health and I hope that becoming a runner is helping you through such a tough time. Maybe if you continue running after graduation you could look at running groups of Parkruns near you if you decide you would like to run with company or meet other runners? You're doing an amazing, inspirational thing so huge congratulations to you.
