A few days ago I ran W9R1, 30 mins, it’s was obviously a challenge but I did it. However I attempted W9R2, 30 mins again, this morning and I failed it? I just couldn’t do it and had to stop after 25 mins?!? I have no idea why, I am absolutely gutted. How do I get over the mental block and continue running?
Mental block?!?: A few days ago I ran W9R1, 3... - Couch to 5K
Mental block?!?
Everything going on in our lives can impact on our performance as a runner. Restedness, hydration and nutrition are at the top of my list of variables that need to be optimised to enable enjoyable running.
You have done it once, so you know you can do it.
Prepare well by resting, hydrating and eating well, relax and go and crack it.........because you know you can do it.
Can you speak aloud, clear, ungasping sentences as you run?.........if not, you are going too fast.
Have you read the guide to the plan, which is full of tips? healthunlocked.com/couchto5...
The same happened to me a few times in weeks 8 and 9, it’s just a case of putting it behind you. Have your rest day, go for it again, maybe try a different route. Happens to lots of us. You can do this.
You'll do it another day, no worries, as you've already done it. I did the W9R1 just now, struggled at the start (just thought I'd give it a go as long as I'm already out and can always repeat later on...) with sudden rain, blowing wind, dust, late night and early morning, and some plant particles, some flowers off the tree falling on my head, then debris all over the path, then some gravel stuck in the midsole of my shoe as I'm not a heel striker... and somehow managed to completly forget that I'm actually still running. That is what I call a proper distraction 🏃♀️
Best of luck!
