Punishment and redemption

C25k graduated last year at 72 and after a month or two managed a 5k in 37 mins then the running gods punished me for undertaking some purple snails one day. They smote me with a badly strained Achilles heel. After a month or so hobbling about I restarted c25k and went through the mill again. Must admit it was easier this time but every run was plagued by the thought that I could overstep the line and be consigned to be a wannabe again. VE day came and I went out to do a steady 5k and every thing just clicked into place. Waving respectfully to the purple snails as I powered pass them I knew I was motoring. At 73 I knocked a minute off my PB which is now 36 mins for 5k. The thought now is that if I can match this improvement each year by the time I am 100 I should be a world record holder😁😎

I admire your determination and at nine years your junior have just completed C25k for the second time after being sidelined for nearly a year with a knee injury and have to say I have a very different approach to you.

I will forego the PBs to keep running. Once we get into our sixties and beyond, chasing PBs is highly likely to end in injury.

I would rather run every other day for the next year, than have twelve months interspersed with PBs and time on the IC.

Take care

Thank you, I know you are right about chasing times and I should not do it. Unfortunately for me I love the Buzz.
