So, after two rest days I attempted the first run of week 7, foot was already aching a bit, but can usually carry on. Managed about 10 mins of actual running before it became impossible, and I hobbled home.
Has anyone else had this problem? How did you solve it?
I am resting up for an extra couple of days and massaging ibuprofen into my foot. But hoping this doesn’t derail my running. From the NHS website this could be caused by any number of things. I have had it before though just from walking.
I Have wondered it it’s my shoes/ trainers (I’m wearing 15 year old Reeboks at the mo). Realise I should try a few pairs on and get a gait check before I buy new ones - but as that’s not an option at the moment I’ve impulsively ordered an expensive pair online!

I can sympathise.. I get that once in a blue moon, Last had a flare-up after running up a hill and I went up on my toes too far, and it started it off, metatarsalgia I believe, too much impact force going through the ball of the foot, so, with some good advice on here to gently roll a cold can of coke or tennis ball under the foot, and stretching the feet it gradually went away, I suppose painkillers help, but I didn't use them much, just backed off the running for a week or 2 and it subsided, suggest checking the cushioning in those old trainers or replace them anyway.. they must be way past thier best now for running.
You can get a pad to cushion it more, but they can feel uncomfy when running..
