A wreck? Seriously?

Take confidence from this simple mantra:

- every run you do prepares you for the next one.

i.e. Week 1 (and well done for getting through it - getting out for W1R1 is a BIG step!) gives you the fitness and stamina to achieve Week 2.

Then, Week 2 added to Week 1, gives you the fitness to achieve Week 3.

C25K is a very achievable physical test - your body is capable of much more than you think. And 'think' is issue here... this program (like many similar) is a mental test, NOT a physical one. You need to *believe* you can do it.

And you can!

Welcome to the forum and well done on getting started.

This guide to the plan is essential reading healthunlocked.com/couchto5...

and includes advice on pacing.........I would bet you are going too fast.

Enjoy your journey.

I appreciate the advice. I had read the article before I started and it is very useful indeed. I'm not convinced I can run any slower lol. Think it is a combination of age! being a little overweight! and sitting on my backside doing nothing at all for 5 weeks !!!

My head tells me it will get better so long asi persevere. My body says STOP - is it really worth it lol

Believe me, you can always go slower.

If you cannot speak aloud, clear, ungasping sentences as you go, you are going too fast.

This is not about speed but duration. You cannot run for any length of time if you cannot supply your body with a good steady flow of oxygen.

This ability defines a sustainable pace for you, at your current fitness level. It will change as you get fitter.
