I had to check that I wasn't broken....

Two weeks ago tomorrow I had to be tested for Covid-19, and as posted, it was positive.

I'm not going to lie, I felt dreadful....

2 days ago I tried a walk and it was okay, but I needed a nap afterwards.

Yesterday, another walk, a bit further and I realised that the immense feeling of fatigue was not there.

This morning I woke up feeling almost normal, still zero sense of smell, but I felt okay. So I decided to have a short slow run.

Which I did, definitely slower, but that was the plan. I ended up running for 31 minutes, my chest and breathing felt surprisingly okay, the issues are my legs, oh I know I have got them!

I suppose I have posted this to maybe allay some fears, as we are reading so many sad articles on a daily basis.

Most of us will get over this quite quickly, but we have to do our utmost to protect those groups of people who we know are at the greatest risk.

So the lockdown remains firmly in place, we continue to practice social distancing and frequent handwashing.

I would like to say, if any of you are wearing masks please ensure that you wear them correctly. I saw several people yesterday with the mask underneath their noses.

Stay well everyone 🀩😘

Yaaaaaay πŸ₯³ you're mending Jell that's truly fantastic πŸ‘ and you've taken those legs for a run πŸ‘πŸ‘.

Guess it'll take a while and a few gentle ones to get back into your stride buy hey you'll get it back.

Hopefully at the end of lockdown part 2 we'll start to see a breakthrough moreso, Boris has an unenviable task ahead of him!

Handwashing continues mine are slowly dissolving I think 😁, regarding the whole mask thingy I know I haven't, but plenty have and continue to wear them its a split group,

Glad you're back and recovery is going great jell hope your nose works asap πŸ‘ƒπŸ‘€

So glad you are recovering. Your body will tell you what it can and cant do, listen to it carefully! As a former M.E. sufferer (Post Viral Fatigue), I am seeing a lot of people who have had Covid reporting issues that mirror what happened to me after I had viral meningitis, which was followed by 7 years of Post Viral Fatigue Syndrome (or M.E. as it was commonly known back then). It is hugely cheering to read a post such as yours which suggest that it is possible to bounce back quickly from the virus. I am praying that this is the case for everyone!

Jell6 profile image
Jell6Graduate in reply to Bozsky

Post viral fatigue was a big feature in my last few days in bed. Honestly I really started to get anxious about it.

Initially I worried about how the virus would affect me, would I be one of the lucky ones, then when I felt that concern was over I moved onto other thoughts😬

So yes Bozsky you make a very good point.

So glad that you are better now.

Oh what good news! πŸ˜ŠπŸ‘ So glad to hear the virus has cleared off and you are taking up the reins again. Sounds like your underlying strength has helped because it sounds quick to be back even to slow running. πŸ‘πŸΌ Take great care and fingers crossed it all continues well. πŸ’•πŸ‘πŸŽ‰

Jell6 profile image
Jell6Graduate in reply to Granspeed

Thanks Granspeed I definitely believe that the fitness and stamina that running has given me has been a big factor in my recovery.

That coupled with the fact that I don't have any other risk factors.

I won't push too hard 🀩

So happy to hear you are starting to recover. Well done for making it out for a run...that's incredible. Your body has worked incredibly hard to heal you and will have taken a bit of a hit. But I'm so pleased to hear you are getting better, day by day. Keep getting stronger, and thank you for sharing. There are so many tragic and scary stories of Covid-19 and so many of us feel we are living in fear for our lives. I'm glad your reaching the other side of this dreadful illness safely x

Thank you MartinKH I have also done some gardening today so need to stop now. Not too difficult as I am not a gardening fan, as Irishprincess can confirm. Not an overstatement to say I hate it!

Good plan to stop the gardening now then πŸ‘

Our garden completely waterlogged today, so no gardening for me either , phew πŸ˜….

Gosh Jell!!! I had no idea you had tested positive. You poor thing, that must have been so worrying for you and all your loved ones. I just can’t imagine what that must have felt like.

But great news that you’re feeling a little better and you’re getting stronger. But what’s this I hear about you still not liking to garden? πŸ™€ But hey, hats off to you for trying πŸ‘ We’ll make a gardener of you yet.

I give you a challenge. Get hold of a few seeds and plant them. Water and watch and when they grow up, then come back and tell me you don’t like gardening.

A big hug to you and stay well xxx

Jell6 profile image
Jell6Graduate in reply to Irishprincess

On the right side of it now Irishprincess 😊, I really don't like gardening, but I am a ridiculously conscientious weeder, I can't bear to leave any of those buggers in the borders.

My friend is going to put me in charge of a hanging basket. Will that count?

Hug received, thanks 😘

Irishprincess profile image

You can come round to mine for more weeding when you’re finished yours, I’ve got lots 😏 and yes a hanging basket definitely counts!Just water and say nice thing to the flowers 🌹🌸🌼πŸ₯€

Thank you, there are a lot of facets to this virus.

I have a much younger colleague who tested positive the same day as me who is really struggling with breathlessness still.

So much more needs to be known. I'm pinning my hopes on a vaccine.

Until then we have to keep doing what we can.

Stay safe and well 😊

It's good to hear something positive, Jell6 ☺ and back to running πŸƒ already. You must be made of strong stuff πŸ’ͺ

We have a member of my OH family who was on a ventilator for over a week, and it was touch and go for some time, but thankfully she is now off the ventilator, still in hospital but making progress πŸ™

Look after yourself, don't overdo it 😊 πŸ’ πŸƒ

Seriously, glad your family member is making progress after what was clearly a critical case.

I honestly feel that the fitness running has given me is a big factor in this.

Take care, I won't overdo it!

So pleased to read you are on the mend Jell!πŸ‘πŸ‘

Fabulous news! I'm so sorry; I've been quite remiss of late, too wrapped up in my own work worries in all this really, I didn't see your previous post!

I'm so very happy to hear you're making such a good comeback. Just the type of thing we all need to hear.

Sending lots of positivity that your full recovery is swift and complete! πŸ’–

Things _seem_ to be going back a little more towards normal. It's just that initial loss of routine. We're such creatures of habit, when forced to change suddenly and without option it really throws up all kinds of issues.

Of course the biggest concern should always be health, physical and mental. We just let so many other things take priority at times.

Such good news for us of you though. Really is. πŸ’ž

Oh Jell, I missed your post about testing positive. I am so sorry to hear that but am ecstatic that you are finally feeling better! Here's hoping every day gets better and better. The lack of sense of smell is an interesting symptom of Covid. I wonder how long it will take to come back. That must be weird, especially now with all the lovely smells of spring. Although when all our snow first melted, the first run was so stinky - the mix of decaying leaves and Dog poop was quite strong as I ran through my neighbourhood.

Jell6 profile image
Jell6Graduate in reply to SaskAlliecat

Ahh, thank you!

That's a lovely olfactory picture that you painted 🀣, I have read that it may take a few weeks to return, but really who knows. I am starting to feel like myself again, and will be back at work next week. 😷😷

I had not planned to run for a while, but I had done the couple of walks and on the day, I just felt better, so thought try a short one, and yes I was surprised that my breathing allowed it.

Totally agree, I feel that running has helped a lot regarding how I have got back on my feet.

I'm obviously not 100 percent yet, the coughing is likely to continue for a few weeks according to the government website, but I'm well on the way .
