Has any one with Asthma have any experience with upping your Vo2 Max score ?

Just checked mine for the first time and it says my score is 26. My fitness age is 79!!!! 😱😰 and I’m in the lowest 10% of my age range.

I’m absolutely horrified as I’ve been going to the gym for around 3 years and I first did C25K on March last year but On the treadmill and then redid it outside and graduated on December 21st 2019.

My asthma did take a turn for the worse when I started running outside and I had to have an extra inhaler to be able to complete it.

I really want to Increase my score 😫

Any advice greatly appreciated 🙂

Which app is telling you your fitness age and what is your actual age?

I use Fitbit and my VO2 max went up a little this week but I take the figures with a pinch of salt and as an indicator only. If you can run for 30 minutes without stopping (especially with asthma) then you obviously have a better fitness level than most of the population so I wouldn’t be too worried about it.

Its my Garmin but only had it a week or so. My age is 49. I have run an hour with out any problems and run 50ish minutes once a week as well as 30 min runs. My asthma is mostly under control with the odd flare up.

So your fitness age is obviously not 79. I’m 54 and Fitbit tells me my VO2 max is 36 which is apparently good for men my age, nice to see it going up but I think you need to do a full stress test on a treadmill with a professional to get an accurate result.

I think you may be right. I’ll monitor it and see what happens as well. I did have a full stress test on a treadmill a few years ago so I might try and get those results from my GP
