What a beautiful morning! I got up at 4 a.m. to go out and look for meteors. We are in the midst of the annual Perseid meteor shower. I laid back in a lawn recliner with a blanket, a cup of coffee, and my golden retriever by my side. I was about to become impatient when all of a sudden several meteors went flying by! They travel at about 209,000 KPH (130,000 mph). I watched the sky for an hour before going inside to put on running clothes. I wanted to hit the streets while it was still dark so I could scope out the best viewing location for tonight and tomorrow morning (my back yard has 12 tall long leaf pines that obstruct a good view of the sky). Once I found the best location, I started my C25K podcast. It was starting to get dusk by then, so I could not see anymore meteors, but the temperature was a perfect 22 C and I got to watch the sunrise.
I completed the third run of week 3! I feel like I need to do it one more time before moving on to week 4. Tomorrow, I will take a blanket with me down the street to an open field and watch for meteors again before doing my run. Even though I live in a subdivision with lots of houses, there is an open field near the entrance with a big view of the sky. I sure do love the peaceful, quiet, early morning hours.
