I have some arthritis and have found that good cushioning in my shoes and short strides have helped, in fact I'd say that it's improving as I work through the programme.

Great shoes and knee strengthening work on rest days would be the first things that spring to mind. Also softer running surfaces will help lessen the impacts and because grass and the trails make every footfall different they are better for running with conditions such as arthritis. Keep the pace down and allow the knees to strengthen. Have you discussed this with your GP/Physio? The latter may be able to give you specific exercises to concentrate on for you knees history.

Softer surfaces..land lightly..kissing the ground with your feet...warm up for longer..stretch more after...up your rest day stamina and strength exercise...and try these too

Have you tried ibuprofen gel. Works for me, and I’ve always said I can’t run because of my knees and just finished week 6.

Enjoy. Took me a moment or two to get into a good pace. Kept going a tad too fast. But was hot and sweaty and ecstatic when I finished.
