After doing W8 R2 and killing it (on a slight downward gradient), by going for 8 minutes more than I needed, this time I did the allotted 28 minutes on my there-and-back route, which sadly is down hill / up hill (by a very slight gradient)...
Oh my, what a difference! It took a lot of (MGB) Mental Gremlin Bashing to get to the end.... but I did, and I guess that is what counts.
So, I'm picking a new route for my W9 R1 on Thursday, and hope that the weather holds.
I'm still on schedule to graduate before my Half Century... although I expect I'll be well into my 51st year before I do 5km in 30 minutes!!! LOL

Great job. Sometimes we finish on empty... sometimes we feel we could go back to the start line and go again... it doesn’t matter as long as we are out there and doing it. Don’t worry about that whole 5k/30 minute thing... as you say it could be a while... it won’t change your life as much as the 30 minutes comfortable running though. Enjoy your next one.
Well done you. My runs have been all flat except my run 2 on the same week decided to reach out to nature and go to Richmond Park...chose the flatest route so almost invisible gradients and really really struggled had to walk a bit in between. I decided Hill’s were for post graduation. You did very well to navigate a hill in 28! If you can keep it flat for now, the hills are a good conditioner when stronger I believe.
