Hiya, I listen to podcasts which are related to health/fitness and nutrition as I find this helps me to focus and I enjoy learning. I’ve also been exercising more in the morning as I find I’m more likely to eat better foods in the day because I feel better and don’t won’t to undo all the hard work I’ve put in. X

I also have to add a bit about being realistic with your goals. 30 seconds after I hit post on that last message my husband arrived home with a variety of amazing cakes from a local baker! I’m definately going to over indulge. Sometimes you just need to enjoy life! 😉 x

It can be tough but I think the best thing is to be prepared and if you can avoid having junk food in the house. If it’s there it can be quite hard to avoid, but if there’s fruit, and healthy snacks to hand you’re more likely to eat them. I find meal planning helpful and I now only buy what I need for those meals and healthy snacks, I no longer graze the isles for what looks tasty! Other things to try are drinking a large glass of water when you feel hungry, and before eating. And eating slowly also works - your brain has a chance to send the ‘full’ signal. Apparently it’s also true that people who eat together & talking eat less than people eating in front of the telly! The other thing that might help is to learn more about healthy food, and also about the damage that junk food can do to you. Maybe that will help with the willpower! And if you ‘fail’ at your goal, try and learn from it - when do you break your healthier eating goals? When you’re tired, stressed, bored, hungover?! Understanding what prompts you to eat badly may be a key to doing better. And try not to be too hard on yourself. You are running after all!

Kinda boredom, not conscious eating?! Have to say after 4 months in total of running, I feel great! Haven’t been a total angel around food and booze, but as I’ve felt better, I have made better choices - sometimes! Someone posted earlier that they’d done c25k before but lapsed, but came back because it was the best he’d ever felt - the feeling of fitness from running - have to say I see what he means! Try preparing some healthy snacks before settling in and watching TV! A bit of improvement at a time will make a difference. You’re running, don’t be too hard on yourself!

Only have good nutritious food in the house. Ditch the crap. Only eat at mealtimes. If you feel hungry drink water.

Get exercising.

I have zero will power and absolutely love my food! I’ve bought myself a Fitbit so all my calorie expenditure is automatically logged. I’ve decided not to go on a diet as such but to eat within my allowed limits. The more exercise I do, the more I can eat. This means logging everything I consume as well tho so if I’ve over indulged on less healthy things 1) I feel a bit guilty and 2) I’m motivated to do more moving to resore equilibrium and reach my calorie and activity goals for the day. I’ve set the reminders so I’m more likely to move about during the day. Having the goals set and been able to track them has made a difference to my eating and moving. Also starting this C25K has changed my attitude towards food and excercise. Early days but working so far. I try not to have junk in the house as a rule. If it’s there I have to eat it. If it’s not there I’m not bothered. A little bit of what you fancy does you good tho.
