I get calf pain although the fitter I am the less I suffer. I think mine is lactic acid build up as Im pushing myself (not that it looks like it!). I also have a strange foot bone so that affects my gait and theres nothing I can do about it (that came from a sports physio when i ran halfs in my 30s.).

Welcome to the forum and well done on getting started.

This guide to the plan is essential reading healthunlocked.com/couchto5...

To reduce impact slow down, avoid heelstriking, keep footfall under your body not out in front, run on grass or treadmill. Stretch after every run as described in the guide.

Enjoy your journey.

I also get niggling calf pains. The best help for me has been working through the NHS Strength and Flex podcasts on my rest days. They involve a lot of gentle stretching which helps both short and long term. And they’re free !
