The Mystery of the Knees: Solved!

So... I’ve had a week off running. I’ve genuinely missed it, but the knees needed it for sure.

After a restless night’s sleep with agony in the knees, I called a local specialist in the hope that he could just do a deep tissue massage or something to relieve the pain.

After a chat with him and an examination, he discovered that an old back injury was the culprit of my knee pain! I’ve broken my tailbone, at the very least, maybe three times- I always fall bum first. It turned out my sacral nerves had been injured years ago in the last break (a man on a moped mowed me down in Italy, very painful) and they were tugging on the inside of my knees with every stride. The added pressure from the running had caused the pain. Only I could start a fitness regime and end up with a pain in the arse!

Thankfully some prodding with electrodes and deep tissue leg massage has done wonders. I’ll be back to C25K tomorrow morning! I really can’t wait!
