Now it’s winter I’m struggling to get back into my routine and have not run for about 5 weeks. Should I start again or carry on from week 9 ?

My feeling would be to take yourself back a little...maybe to Week 4 or 5....Unless you have kept up a strength and stamina and fitness regime, you may need to head out for a gentle jogette and see what your body tells you.

If you get organised... then winter running can be brilliant...I am not sure what time of day you run, but... set your gear out the night before... make sure you know your route... have the right gear.. High Viz and layers etc...

This time of the year can be nagical.. cold sparkling mornings, dark starry nights... Christmas lights and the ever changing scenery...:)

Post your runs... we are great on support to keep you going :)

I think the most important thing is to get running again. I sometimes used to go out with my watch set to buzz every three minutes and my mindset was I was going to do at least twelve minutes, to get past the toxic ten. The deal with myself was I was aiming for at least 24 minutes but if I felt really rubbish after 12 I was allowed to stop. Only rarely did I actually stop after 12: as often as not when I got to 24 I would decide I was OK to go on to 30 and then on to 5k (about 35 minutes for me at that time.)

Like Oldfloss says, just go out for a slow jog with no pressure to go a long way. Even if it is only 12-15 minutes it will get you back in the habit again.

Personally I’d have a cheeky go at 1:1 just to see what it shows you, and reset your programme on that basis. Happy running 😀
