I had keyhole surgery 4weeks ago and was advised not to run for at least 4 weeks to avoid the risk of a hernia. Before the emergency surgery I had managed the first 3 weeks of C25k with little problem. I was thinking of trying a run from week 1 first and if that went OK, one from week 2, then 1 from week 3, or am I being too cautious?

Perhaps you should run week 1 on say a Sunday, repeat it if you wish on Wednesday OR run week 2 on the Wednesday. Maybe two rest days between runs would be advisable under your circumstances, of course I am not a medical expert, your doctor is the best person to know exactly what your situation is, I would be very careful regarding my runs if I had had keyhole surgery.
Thanks, I am planning to try a gentle run from week 1 tomorrow morning and see how it goes. I am also going to try some sessions on our rowing machine to try and build up my general strength and fitness, as with my long working days and no street lights, running more than twice a week is a problem at present
It’s a double whammy of operation and long lasting impact of anaesthetic. Listen to your body and don’t be afraid to replan the plan. Good luck
