Due to work I'm down to one run a week, last week decided to follow the Parkrun route just to see how far I needed to train, to complete a 5k. When Jo suggested the five minute cool down, I did slow down a bit, but sneaked in a sneaky 32.17. Today I did not feel like running, instead took the dogs for a short walk. After loosening up, one dog went off for a hair cut, so I took out our Jack Russell on my run, stopping should he start limping. He didn't and I ran my second Parkrun. Jack Russell just LOVED IT managing to smile for the whole route. I managed somehow to arrive before the 32 minute pace maker. Now waiting for the posted results and the stiffness. Oh well house work calls...

Welcome to the forum and well done.
If you have followed this forum regularly you will know that the graduates and admins, speaking from first and second hand experience, urge people to stick to the training plan. It is tried and tested and the progression is carefully calculated to minimise injury risk. While you may well be able to do more than the programme asks you to, you need to bear in mind that, even if you are otherwise fit, that the impact of running creates specific stresses on muscles and bones, which over many months will strengthen and reduce your injury risk. Which is why training plans are progressive. Doing too much too soon is a sadly familiar theme on this forum.
Take care.
