Back to work 😔

Well I’ve had a lovely 6 weeks off and today is the day o was dreading...back to work. I’ve loved my morning runs but they’re going to have to be done after work now as I just can’t get up that early. Hoping that I will not be too tired after work but I’ll definitely give it a go 😁

I tend to prefer morning runs, but any run anytime is good! Stay hydrated throughout the day and enjoy going out when you get in.

That’s my biggest problem, I always forget to drink while I’m at work. I’m going to make myself drink tho. I won’t be coming home first I go straight to the park after work. If I came home I probably wouldn’t go back out. This is how I did it before I was off so hopefully it won’t be too hard to get back into it 🤞

Sympathy and Empathy... first day of Term... ah yes...I remember it well!!

I used to get up at 5.... ( not for C25K..I did not know about it then.. but just to do a walk run across my fields:) It really does give you a real head start on the day.... you could, maybe try it???

Other wise.. good luck for your later runs :) x

I was doing that before the half term started but just too tired throughout the day. I think as long as I make myself drink lots I should be ok. Will let you know later 😂

Brilliant... go for it... it could be that if you persisted, the routine would become part of it...but you know what is right for you... Have a good day :) x

Morning, you have to find the balance between when you enjoy running the most and your daily schedule, I find early mornings the best as I'm a morning type of person. I did W7 R1 this morning and loved it. There was a light breeze and the Sun coming up over the Chalk cliffs in the distance made it lovely for running, unfortunately I forgot my Sunglasses so spent majority of the run squinting. Have a good day.

Well done hatter glad you enjoyed your run. My run today was good, felt nice to be running around the park I used to run again. I had a stitch all the way around which was a pain so just went really slow.

What run did you do today W7 or 8? I'm going to try an afternoon or early evening run when it cools down again, absolute scorcher here today to see to see if it makes any difference to my distances. I found 25 minutes ok this morning but certainly didn't want to run any further.

I did w7r2 today. You’ve had better weather than me today, it started off pretty wet here but did turn out nice so I was lucky to be running in the sunshine 🌞

Sunny South Coast see, got told off by admin in first week for giving too many details of where I was running. ☹️

Hope the transition is smooth... may take a couple or three runs to be comfortable with it again... but all that determination over the summer in that heat says to me that you’ll be just fine.

Thanks, it was a totally different run today. Made sure I had loads of water yesterday and today but still had a stitch. Just went really slow so managed it without stopping. As you say, may just take a couple to get back into afternoon running again

Great job. I’m sure you’ll adapt... you’ll probably also love early mornings again next holidays.

Yes I will do mornings in the half terms and summer again. I wouldn’t mind so much now but once it dark in the mornings again I don’t feel safe running on my own. For now I’m back in winter mode of afternoon/evening runs 🙂

Have you sought a local running club? I see ours about a few evenings a week. One a few miles away does all levels including C25K sessions.

No I keep saying I’m going to, maybe that should be my goal for the winter months

Couple of evenings a week and in a group one weekend run and you’re done. These running club creatures can normally be found at 9am on Saturday mornings quite easily.

Hi, I’m in a similar position with the start of term; I’m a morning person and regularly get up at 6am but with the intention of being at school by 7.15.

However I experimented today with getting up and out the door for a 30min walk at 6am. It was beautiful, even though I felt groggy. Felt good to do something so indulgent, useful thinking time. Not sure I could do a proper C25k session yet but would like to keep it up.

I too will be doing my sessions after school but will have to be disciplined enough to prioritise it over schoolwork. That will be a challenge!

Good luck to you, by Wednesday you’ll be thinking “did we have a holiday?!”

Em x

I thought that about half an hour after stepping through the door! 😂 The run was good but I did have a stitch all the way round so went really slow 🐌🐌🐌🐌🐌 was nice to be running around the park again though

I’m back in tomorrow- I’ve been over thinking it - should I try getting up early or should I go after work - will I be too tired after work - it’ll soon be dark before and after work - I’ll have to change my route - can I mix it up so I run mainly on weekends - but I like my rest days at weekends - 🤷🏻‍♀️ I’m sure it’ll all work out 🤦🏻‍♀️

Run1980 profile image
Run1980Graduate in reply toLapoftheGods

I’ve gone back to after work runs because I won’t go out early in the dark on my own. I figure there is more people about early evening so it’s safer. I’m always tired after work but I go to work in my running clothes (or take them with me) and I drive to the park after work and then run. If I was to go home first then I wouldn’t come back out. Hope you find a good balance for yourself x

Hello, first day back for me, too! Run tomorrow - will think about pre-school but honestly I think it’ll be after work. I think this programme will give me the incentive I need x Good luck! X

Ah good luck for tomorrow. My after school run wasn’t too bad. I did have a stitch which was annoying but I just went really slow. Didn’t have aching legs or anything which was great. Hope yours goes well 👍🏻
