We are all different shapes and sizes on here and it makes no difference because this programme does definitely make you fitter. Moreover you start to miss it when you don't run. Let us know how you are getting on.

Welcome.

You’ll gain fitness and definition, weight loss often follows, but the diet may need tweaking a little to facilitate this. Self esteem will increase too, so you will feel more comfortable with yourself. Basically it’s a win win win win thing. Relax, don’t go fast and enjoy the journey.

Hi, I’m on week 2, and I’m feeling a difference already 😁, I have more stamina and I feel like I’ve lost weight. Keep going, you can do it!

Hi I'm 20 so not quite a teen anymore c25k has helped my body become more toned and been a nice self esteem boost, as we're more likely to see unrealistic body images on social media it can distort our idea of what is normal or healthy so it's good to have a realistic goal in mind, C25k doesn't actually use that many calories so on its own isn't effective for weight loss & a dietary element is needed this link explains it better than me healthunlocked.com/couchto5... 😊😊

C25K on it’s own doesn’t use many calories, but if you combine it with a sensible diet you can lose a lot of weight (I lost 16kg in the 9 weeks). But a much bigger effect is self esteem. You can be a runner, and that's a huge thing for your self confidence! Have a go, it works!

I echo the sentiments expressed by others, put very simply to lose weight, you need to expend more calories than you take in, in reality it is much easier to generate that deficit by adjusting your diet but by starting the C25K programme you are likely to get lots of other benefits, better tone, self esteem, mental resilience. You are still so young, you have a great opportunity to make changes that could last for a lifetime, I wish I hadn't left it until my late 50's to do something. Stick with the programme, it's great and you will be feeling the benefits in no time.

It will only help you loose weight if you are following a weight loss plan as 3 runs a week will not burn a lot of calories but all the other benefits far outweigh this. I'm on week 8 now and I have lost no weight (that was not my reason to start running) although I should try as I am quite overweight ! But my wife says it is making a difference to my body shape my stomach is more pulled in and my legs look stronger . The main benefit by far is the sense of achievement it really really boosts your self confidence and male you feel positive about yourself.

Hi. I agree that this programme alone won't necessarily result in a massive weight loss and if you are significantly overweight and unfit you may find it hard going at first but that's even more reason to take it slow and persevere because the sense of achievement is awesome and you will find that this and the self confidence it giveswill spill over into other aspects of your life that may help you to lose weight. Add some brisk walking and swimming in between runs to increase your calorie usage and look at what you eat and it will all come together. Don't forget to measure as well as weigh if your goal is to improve the way you look. Good luck and let us know how you get on
