Hi. So I have done 2 runs so far. Only week 1. I find the runs manageable but I can barely walk for days after. How long until your legs stop hurting??? And I feel like eating more. Like I can justify it because I have been running. Don't think anyone can help me with that 🤣

Check this post out and welcome!

Normal aches and pains at the start.... many folk get them.... and eating more? No... you will have to run a heck of a lot further to justify that :)

Take it steady and slow...warm up well and stretch after every run. You do get stronger with each run..but it takes time.

Welcome to the forum and well done on getting started.

The post linked to by Oldfloss has links to stretches, which if done after every run, really can help reduce those early aches and pains.

You will surprise yourself how quickly you get stronger.

Enjoy your journey.

Welcome! I spent some of the day after my first run crouching because that stretched my sore muscles perfectly. Mine eased up after 3 runs and didn't really give me problems after that. Hope yours ease up soon!

Do stretches before and after your run to prevent the pain. It really works. I’ve been getting hungrier too. Trying to keep at healthy snacks like a banana, nuts and raisins etc

It'll take a couple of weeks for your legs to get used to this running about stuff. Par for the course.

Make sure you stretch properly afterwards; don't stretch beforehand - cold muscles don't like it, you need to be warmed up first.

If it starts to be really sore (i.e. painful) while you're running, then stop. A bit of soreness afterwards is okay, but not while you're running.

Keep to your rest days - that's when your legs get stronger.

Any other niggles or specific bits of leg that are sore, post something and you'll get some good responses.

We've all been there - don't worry okay? xx

I found stretching after each run really helped. You will be amazed at how quickly your body adapts to running. Keep going!
