So, as the username implies, I've two boys who are on this journey with me - the younger one is starting secondary school in September and wants to be fitter ready for that challenge. I have my eye very vaguely on something stupid in a couple of years time and need to start somewhere if I have any dream of being fit enough, and my eldest hates being left out. So we're all on this trail. We've all via various missed sessions now made it to week 2 run 2 (I've done run 1 twice so that both boys got a go at it on different days as their school schedules didn't work for us to do it together).
Wasn't sure we'd make it this far without someone wimping out but it seems we're all still in it - OK so there is a degree of "I can't do this" from time to time but strangely that seems to die off towards the end of sessions - maybe end in sight and maybe just lack of breath to complain! We do have the advantage that our running route basically takes us to the local park, lap round there, finish by the lake, quick drink from the water fountain by the play area and then warm down walk home (which is more than the 5 minutes but no harm in doing a 5km circuit even if some of it is just walking).
Hopefully now school is properly out we can have a sensible routine (give or take having to adapt to holidays) and keep going to the end. My aim is that we do the local 5k park run before school starts again but it might have to be the following weekend if we're still away.
If I remember and my brain still works, I'll update as we go.
