I did my first parkrun in week 8 - but I just waked the first 5 minutes, ran for 28 as prescribed then walked the rest. Well OK I started to run again when I was near the finish line! Timed it on my watch to avoid the need for headphones and just logged it on the app afterwards.
Worth a thought, you don’t have to run the whole way so if it’s not a hilly course you may enjoy getting used to the parkrun environment in weeks 8 and 9. Running the whole way can still be a future target after graduation.
Just a suggestion that worked for me but everybody’s different.
