Week 7 - Pain after run :-(

I'm now in Week 7, but after W6 R3 I had pain in my right Achilles area which took a few days to settle down. Also pain behind my left knee which is persisting (although it is better when running and no pain for a while following a run).

I ran yesterday, very slow and steady, and did 20 mins pain free before I felt the Achilles again and stopped immediately.

Achilles fine this morning, no pain. I've incorporated eccentric heel drops into my strength routine, and have scaled back my activity levels (I usually play football as well). Thinking I might have overuse symptoms but not sure!!!!

Hoping I don't have to stop completely - that would suck 😞

Oh dear! I can't offer any advice, just be sensible, lots of TLC, and seek professional advice when you need to. I guess your shoes are good? Knackered or poor running shoes can give niggly aches and pains which will be more apparent now that you are on the longer runs - but you've probably already thought of that.

I can offer sympathy and wish you a speedy recovery.

Appreciate it, thank you. Yeah got some good ASICS running shoes when I started! Just going to see how it goes, if it's no better within a couple of weeks I will stop completely and see a physio. One of the reasons I started was due to knee pain and lack of fitness at football. This has been much better since I started C25K but it appears to be a balancing act with my ageing legs (I'm 42 - old for footy anyway!)

I saw an article on Canadian tv news last night. A 95 year old man broke the record for a 100 metre run (100 metre run for gents of his age range). He did it in 29 seconds. He only started running at 89 !

so 42 makes you a youngster! I'm not sure I could do it in 29 seconds,

Not old at all! Good luck, hope it's not a long term problem.
