Well again my plans for an early run were scuppered, mainly by me being a lazy arse , waking up at 7, thinking it’s a bit chilly and I wonder if il need a jacket and dropping back off to sleep again till 8.30.
Was meeting a friend this morning so I decided I’d wait till my daughter came down and we’d go together this evening.
Well she got stuck with the diversion on the A361, ( awful accident which closed the road for best part of the day and at least she wasn’t in that!!). So she didn’t arrive till about 6.30, starving, desperate for the loo and still suffering with tonsillitis and a cold. So I fed and watered her, made soothing noises and she had a nap after she’d eaten so we didn’t go out till about 8.00. By the time we’d driven to the Football Ground, Parked up and got into the Tarka Trail it was nearer 1/4 past.
But it was a lovely evening, the rain had stopped, the sun was low and going down, it was quite cool and it was really nice conditions for a run, apart from a few stray midges. So off we went and I didn’t feel quite so grumbly as my last run, legs were doing well all the way, lungs were struggling a bit but we managed to keep a pretty good pace. I realised after about 10 mins we were about 1 min faster a mile than usual but managed to keep it ok until our halfway turning point, then coming back I was flagging a bit. My daughter kept about 2 paces ahead and to the side of me, which kept me going and we finished quite quickly it seemed. Although I sometimes struggle with my breathing whilst running bit only takes me 2 mins of my warm down walk to breathe normally again which is a bit strange but hopefully now I have the new preventative inhaler too that should sort out in time.
